NHS Students Making A Difference In Their Community

The news lately can be difficult to watch... it is SO nice to see positive stories, especially when it is something that is happening within our community!
When you have a few moments, click on the link and watch this 2:30 minute video!
Our NHS students are a part of this amazing effort to help people in our community. The Miller Volunteer Program donates, cooks, and serves lunch here the first Saturday of EVERY month! To those of you who are new to Northbrook, the Miller Volunteer Program is an opportunity for our students alongside our faculty to serve the community and the city in a variety of ways! We always need an extra set of hands!! :)

The seniors win the spirit stick-again! Pink Out Pep Rally.

Newspring Center offers scholarships to graduating seniors who are pursuing higher education.

Every year Newspring Center offers scholarships to graduating seniors who are pursuing higher education. Like any other scholarship, students are still required to keep a minimum GPA and enrollment hours in the college of their choice.
This year’s $5000 scholarship recipient is Juan Landin!!! Juan has shown an interest in majoring in international business and says he will start his post-secondary education at University of Houston Downtown. The best part of these scholarship is that as long as students maintain their requirements they will continue to receive it for two years.
Juan has also been accepted into an internship position at Newspring for the summer!

Honor Society's Animal Awareness Project

Northbrook National Honor Society’s animal awareness group worked continually on Saturday, April 2, 2016 to make sure the Doggy Party at the City Centre went well.  Students helped set up the event that included local celebrities such as Mayor Sylvester Turner and Debra Duncan.  Houston area rescues, BARC, and venders, to name a few, made for an interesting day.  There was a costume contest for dogs and adults, as well.  Their photo with Ms. Duncan will be featured in the June issue of PetTalk.
